Maya H officially began in September 2023, first attending the Midhurst Vintage Market with our measly gazebo set-up! We’ve since had a lot of practice and improvement, now selling online, but we still pop up at markets around Sussex and London.

We were inspired by a walk we took through a bustling and vibrant Jaipur textile market, displaying colourful block printed cloths handmade by skilled local craftspeople. We wanted to bring the beauty and originality of the blockprinting art to the UK, with our own special touch of course!

Our designs marry these colourful cloths to visions of our English garden in Sussex. They emulate a mixture of Indian craftsmanship and English florals, the changing seasons and the joy of bringing nature into everyday life.

Absolutely — we’re fascinated by the stories, patterns and traditions that have been passed down through generations of Indian block printing. We celebrate these ancient techniques through our more contemporary designs, creating pieces that feel both timeless and at home in a modern English setting.

Sustainability is at the heart of Maya H, from using 100% Indian cotton to supporting the skilled makers behind each piece in Jaipur. We believe in creating beautiful things to be used, loved and enjoyed for years.

Finding good supplier partners is critical to our success, they are a key part of the team who ensure the production and dispatch meet our exacting standards. We work hard and use our local knowledge in this important search.

Yes, every piece is printed by hand using individually carved wooden blocks, created from our original designs. It’s a wonderfully tactile process, and we love the character that comes with such handmade products.

It takes around 2–3 weeks to prepare, handprint and finish the cloth, before you even factor in the time needed to carve the blocks. It’s certainly a labour of love, but that time and care is part of what makes the finished pieces so special.

Yes — because every piece is hand printed, no two are exactly the same. Small variations are part of the charm and a lovely reminder that each one has been made by hand.

We’d love to send Maya H pieces further afield. While international shipping isn’t currently available as standard at checkout, we regularly ship overseas, so please email us with your order and full delivery address, including the postcode, and we’ll be happy to arrange a shipping quote for you.

We always pass on international shipping costs at cost price. Any import duties, taxes or additional charges applied at your destination would be the responsibility of the customer.
